College-Educated Women And Marriage: No Longer Risk Being “Old Maids”

Interesting that the social stigma is finally wearing off for those who wait to get married after they have begun to lay out a solid foundation for their individual lives. We are very pleased to hear this, & also agree that you shouldn’t have to choose between furthering yourself/your education or getting married.

This is probably the most important piece of info to us from this article:

“The study also shows that well-educated women (i.e. women who get married later in life) are less likely to get divorced, owing in part to the fact that young marriages demonstrate an increased likelihood of ending.”

While we agree that it’s common in society now to see young couples wed and after a few years go their separate ways, it’s still possible to marry young and make it work long-term. We are simply thrilled that our more experienced brides are shedding the stereotype of being past the “marriageable age” that was common not so long ago.

Wedding Cake Advice From Celeb Baker Sylvia Weinstock

We were very excited to see a quick interview with “Queen of Cakes,” Sylvia Weinstock today and get her top tips for achieving the wedding cake design of your dreams!!!

Ms. Weinstock pointed out that design ideas can come from the wedding colors, the bride’s dress and jewelry, as well as type of wedding (luncheon vs. sit-down) and one idea not everyone considers – the Venue!

There are many ways to personalize your wedding cake with figures of the bride/groom or a cherished per or leave it traditional and really go for the wow factor. You can also add a groom’s cake to show off some of your guy’s favorite things. Not sure what a groom’s cake is all about? Chances are you’re not from the south ;) where it’s been tradition for decades. But the idea comes about as a way to honor the groom by showcasing something special to him – other than his beautiful bride of course ;) . We’ve seen the traditional sports teams, chocolate cakes with a specific topper like a Harley motorcycle, the tried and true armadillo cake (ladies you loved it in Steel Magnolia’s didn’t you?). And one of our favorites, from one of our sweet clients, was a surprise grooms cake with a runner’s bib on top to celebrate his love of running and marathon’s he’d completed.

Introducing our new “Bride’s virtual assistant package”

The average wedding takes 200-300 hours to plan!!

That is because most brides have to start from scratch and call 5-15 venues & vendors per category to find the right fit for their wedding (i.e. ceremony indoors vs outdoors, capacity of venue, availability on the date chosen, what comes in any packages, whether they have exclusive vendors that must be used).

In choosing vendors you need to know how long they’ve been in business, how many weddings they’ve done, are their package prices in your budget, how long will they stay, do they have referrals, etc. Getting all of this information takes time both on the internet and on the phone. If you don’t have the time to do all of this we can help.

Introducing our new “Bride’s virtual assistant package”! We will do all of the research for you and narrow down your choices to 2-3 in each category taking into consideration your budget and priorities. We will even call and schedule appointments for meetings and tastings based on your availability. If this is something that you need, please call or email ASAP to schedule a consultation. Our goal is to save you time so you can enjoy the wedding planning process.
